Excavator Decay, Skills, Eco Considerations

I hear it all the time... How it's cheaper and less decay to use TT excavators or whatever. Well, it's a double edge sword.

Do you want to be as cheap as possible pulling your claim out of the ground but give up skill gains? Or do you want your skills to add up faster?

I have had 3400, and 3500 ped claims... Both times I used the skill calculator at Entropiedia to see how much TT my skill was before drilling the claim, and then I checked to see what it was after. I tracked my decay from drilling too. Using the RE-104, both times, I had slightly more TT in skills (Engineering, Mining in the case of my caldorite, and drilling in the case of my oil, Computer, and serendipity I believe also increases during drilling), than the decay spent on the extraction of the claims.

I know, you can spend peds but you can't spend skills... Sure... But, skills are important. It's just we don't know exactly how or in what proportions, or even why. All I know is as my skills go up, the quality of ores and enmatters I find goes up on average, and my average claim sizes go up too over time. Therefore, either it is ped turnover, or it is skill gain, or a combination of both, that lift your loot caps.

Do you want more skill? Do you want more play time? Or do you want to pinch every pec you can even if it means slower skilling? Play style impacts what you get out of the game... If a person has all the answers, they will do better than someone who has none of the answers... That said, no, I don't have all the answers. It seems like as soon as we make ends meet, MA moves the ends. However, I will note, the particular research I have done and the results I have found, are holding true. Yes, high variance, but over time, I am heading upwards a bit and I am hoping to survive long enough to hit that big tower.

Ark Keys: Solo Vs. Team

So... I finally decided to run some Arkadian Keys of various sizes. I had originally when they first came out but then some people found bugs, and I wanted to steer clear til the bugs were fixed. Now... Some serious changes have been made over time.

Team, still works like it used to. But, instead of turning over a full TT key to access the instance, you now give it to an NPC, where all but one pec of the value is refunded in the form of universal ammo, and you get a mini key, which then you go into the instance with. In order to you loot, of course you have to kill your way through all the mobs (if you skip mobs, your treasure in the chests is reduced in value accordingly). Multipliers are VERY rare, and generally you can expect break even in TT value of your ammo and even decay. Slightly above or slightly below. Sometimes the L stuff you loot has markup, sometimes not. Sometimes you might not get any items and just junk. Arkoins, Shrapnel, L guns, chips, just some of the stuff you can expect at the end of a team key. The mobs are rather easy up through key 5... From 5 to 10, you can expect they are quite a bit tougher.

If you don't want to hunt with anyone but still want chests, make a team, put someone in it, and just do your own thing. All it requires is a team be made, not that the team mates go in with you. But you don't get any loot unless you can kill the bosses and reach the treasure chests and open them.

SOLO:

Solo ark keys can be ran by talking to the NPC in the room with the doors at Aakas. You are allowed to pause and resume due to disconnects according to the NPC... But the double edged sword is, you loot mobs as you go, like normal mobs. I notice loot is more likely to give you a multiplier, and the higher keys you will have better chances at better multipliers running it solo... And of course instant specific loot still drops like the Arkoins. Arkoins currently can be redeemed for L armor, L guns, and clothing at the Supply Depot on the planets surface.

But the risk is lower for those of you who are uncertain what level of key you can handle.

More info on the mobs you can expect can be found at http://arkadiaforum.com/threads/aakas-info.8310/

...

I will point out that you will want to use autoloot pills, it will reduce the time spent trying to loot stuff, and some of the mobs may become bugged and you cannot right click on them and loot them. A auto loot pill should eliminate these losses as forseeably they would be automatically looted. I haven't tried it but my next time through a key I will.

If you want a guarantee of items, run a Team key, alone or with a friend. If you only care about ped return, your best bet for a good return are the solo keys, and I do very well with the Sal'diresh vault keys. Just remember the Ubo do pure poison damage.

You will need between 1 to 2 hours to successfully complete an instance usually. Just make sure you have adequate DPS, and make sure to have finishers, overkill I am told by ubers, does not find it's way into the treasure chests. So don't use a BFG to take out a level 0 rakta :)

Wisdom for new Crafters (and not so new)

There are a few of us old players who remember when there was no such thing as Explosive Projectiles crafting. There isn't much we can do about the fact they are here seemingly to stay. But, what I do want to bring to your attention is what you can do about it. Ignore EP. That's right. For one person who may be ahead on EP crafting, there are dozens who are more peds in the hole on EP than most people will ever see in their lifetimes.

If you are new to Entropia, or are planning to spend a lot, here's some things you need to consider before you even think about EP crafting.

9 years ago, people were grinding away on ore amps and other attachments for their gambling needs. Markups on the ingredients were high, but everyone was doing ok lootwise. Hofs can be extremely large on a lot of good attachment prints. Markup on the ingredients back then were substantial compared to now. There is no markup on nanocubes to make EP, but you see, with so many people clicking the same thing, it is nothing more than a glorified lottery in which all participants end up with a very low chance of hitting anything massive.

Yes, you may spend a few peds of markup doing different crafts, but A, a lot of these other things can be sold with good markup when manufactured, and B, If a few percent in markup is going to break you then you should not be crafting to begin with. There has been a LOT of ped put into all these other blueprints over the years, and only an idiot would think it's not going to come back out, but few people click these other blueprints. This makes for opportunity. Especially considering there were items never clicked becuase of very high markup ingredients. Those same prints, are so heavily discounted to click now compared to years ago that I am baffled why more people are not clicking them.

No, I don't like EP. There are several ubers that I know that EP have financially ruined, or at least brought to the brink of financial ruin, their names are withheld due to respect for them. If ubers that spend tends of thousands of dollars a month for years cannot get ahead, it's simple enough to reason out that someone like you are I have very little chance. Entropia has always been great if you go for things not over-crafted, over-mined, over-hunted. Don't believe me?http://www.entropialife.com/Item.aspx?I=7671 if you are logged into entropialife. That will take you to the warbond loot page. Never heard of warbonds? It's because the prints were pulled from the technician and almost no one has clicked them. I clicked a LOT of them testing theories, they were perfect for testing theories on. No one else has hoffed or globalled them but me as that link will show you.

So it is a total myth that you can only hof on something lots of people are doing. In fact, it just means your odds of hitting something worthwhile are diminished. You ever notice how there are not any four digit atrox or ambulimax EVERY day like there used to be? I remember when you wouldn't go a day without seeing at LEAST a four digit atrox, usually you could see five digits on such mobs on any given day or at least in a weeks' time. And to see only 9K or less hofs in the hof chart for all professions on any given day was unheard of. Those were indeed the days.

In the end, do what you feel you want to do, but don't do things because other people are doing them or saying this and that. Eco is not everything. Markup, or no markup is not everything either. I see a day coming when so many people will have been so badly burned from long term EP crafting that it may itself no longer be crafted much. People can only lose so much before they are too burned to keep going.

Anyways, I know some of you will disagree, and that's fine. Yes, you may look at my entropialife record and say "why should we listen to such a noob". Well, for your info.. I've been above 150K skill before, and I chipped down to about 100K and now im almost back up to 150K. All of this playing and skilling without a real hof. If I get more than 30% returns, I celebrate. Yes, loot is very bad these days, why do I keep trying? I figure I have 9 years into it, I am due a break, but there is very little motivating me to keep going. I through $100 bills at the game endlessly it seems like, and MA is so stingy they can hardly give me $5 , and VERY rarely $100 or slightly more. I have cycled magnitudes more peds than I've ever hoffed or globalled by such a high multiple I would be embarassed to say. In order for me to approach being even I need at least a few ATH's and I can't even loot higher than 1.8K ped. So, yeah, not very promising at all.

Everyone needs to find THEIR niche that works for THEM, and not do what other people do just because everyone else is doing it. Find your own way, do your own research, make your own plans. Anything you come up with on your own will work out better for you than the average opinion you may find somewhere. What works for one person will not usually work for another... I think that's part of what they mean when they say the game is "dynamic".

Good luck, and I wish you more success than I've had.

A faster way to earn than sweating, free and easy! And automatic! Almost!

I try my best to give you guys a large variety of ways to pick up extra cash for buying peds in Entropia. Somethings work great for a while, other things not so great. But,  you are probably all familiar with Bitcoin... And you are no doubt sad you missed the boat.

Well... There is another boat beginning to sail, and I want to see you all onboard also. I have a vested interest in seeing this new coin succeed, but also in seeing fellow entropians make some money they can deposit into Entropia, because more peds in the game means more investment, better economy, better loot, and more fun for all.

What am I talking about you ask? Bikercoins, ticker symbol BIC. They were launched in June, and trading just opened a few days ago. They went from one satoshi up to half a ksat in a matter of a couple days is all. There will only ever be 25 million of the coins mined, compared to Bitcoins' 21 million, or Litecoin's 100 million is it? Ethereum is trading up to .022 of a bitcoin, and its said there might not be a limit to how much is created. So, imagine a very limited crypto currency, where infact the transaction sizes are limited as well. A very light, very fast confirmation digital currency.

It was designed to only be CPU mined, no ASIC's are going to destroy the mining for those of us who are poor, no uber can corner the market. It is also totally anonymous, no way to track transactions or link any sender or recipient to each other. This is a much desired upgrade from what Bitcoin offers.

So there are two ways you can earn extra money.

A BIC is worth right now between 1/3rd of a cent and 1/10th of a cent. Doesn't sound like much, but with just my quad core laptop I am mining around 200-400 coins a day. And, you can still game or do what you want to do while you are mining, the cpu usage is reduced as other programs need it. So, let's say 1/10th of a cent per coin, (not to mention the fact that we will see prices going up fast soon), thats 1 pec per coin. You will have 2-4 peds in 24 hours with similar setup as I have. But, I recommend saving them up until they are worth a bit more, but it's up to you. Each block found, the next one shrinks slightly, instead of blocks halving like bitcoin did. I can't imagine any of you sweating 1-2K of sweat a day though I am sure some of you do, but wouldn't you want to get double for the same amount of time?

The other way it can make you money is, a lot of you in fact trade in Entropia... Trading crypto-currency has made a lot of people a lot of money too, and there is plenty room for new traders in BIC already.

If you want to learn more, www.bikercoin.org and if you want to look at the official exchange for the coins, you may go to Doufex. There is also an affiliate program, it pays 20% of the trade commissions collected from your referrals by the platform. Each trade is only a 0.2% fee, but now's the time if you want to get in on the ground floor of something that is going to be huge!

The first day the exchange opened to the public, nearly 100 people registered, just a few days later it is close to 300. If you know anything about economics, you want to get in on this before we hit the S curve. Critical mass is coming, whether you are on board or not!

Mine them, trade them, have fun with them... It's going to be a great opportunity for those who will give it the time. Excellent mining software for this coin can be found at Minergate.com.

I do have some Entropia related posts coming soon, but this was time sensitive... Right now is the easiest and cheapest the coins will ever be. Don't miss out!

Surviving Entropia undner all conditions

This should be common sense, but greed blinds us to common sense sometimes.

It is impossible to buy a hof or a global right now. If hofs and globals are hitting, keep playing. If they aren't hitting for you.... You need to figure out what your best profession is, what gives you the easiest break even? If you can break even repeatedly, or close to even, it buys you time until your hofs and globals finally do come around to you. It is so very easy to lose thousands and tens of thousands of peds simply trying to chase a hof or a global.... I am not kidding... I have had days so bad I've lost thousands of ped without a global.

A couple ways to earn more paypal to buy more peds with!

I bring these to your attention, simply because they are viable ways of increasing your paypal balance which will allow you to, if you choose, increase your ped balance.

Firstly, (NO investment required to try this method of making extra money, but is optional) I'd like to bring a very new concept to your attention, that for a limited time is giving you 20 euros simply for filling out your full profile information. The catch is the 20 euros have to be used to try their recycling revenue sharing platform... Basically you get to buy plastic, and you get a share of the profits from recycling and selling it. There is no risk to you if you simply get your 20 free euros and give it a try. I figure if I run the 20 euros through a full cycle, and actually get paid to paypal or in bitcoin, then I am going to be a happy user of the site. But like all things, if you don't get in on the ground floor, you could miss out. So yes, it will take a couple months to end up with a withdrawable pile of cash, but I've looked at their business model from an economic perspective, and I've looked at ways that I might design a similar business, and I have to admit that I am excited and it is indeed a sustainable business model. It is a real company based in Poland operating this enterprise.

Click here to visit their site and take a look for yourself! Or feel free to click the banner at the bottom of my blog in the footer area.

I would never recommend a program or a product that I did not feel had a real chance for bringing my readers prosperity. Many of you will sweat for months on end just to have a few peds, that's ok, the skills are good to have, but here's your chance to get a free 20 euros, invest it in their business (buy 100kg of plastic waste, click the recycle button, and wait for each stage of the process to complete, its confusing at first, but its only because it is so much simpler than it looks), theres literally no time commitment... And if it works, hey, we are all going to be in great shape. I am not investing money out of my own pocket til I see what happens with the free money they are letting us try the site with. But they did say the free money program will be ending soon, so, if you are going to try it, I recommend doing so ASAP.

Secondly... Myfreeshares is a great program that I also put a banner up on my blog for. They pay out to paypal, have lots of ways of earning... You can earn cash, or you can earn shares in their advertising profit sharing... I have 12 shares right now and it's paying about half a cent per day. I know thats not a lot, but I havn't earned a single share in years because I forgot my login information to use the site. At one time I had hundreds of shares, and the paypal really added up. When you do cash in, they deduct shares (a way of controlling share inflation and devaluation of existing shares). They also have super cheap advertising for paid to click or any other method of advertising you prefer. It is totally free, or you can upgrade if you wish, there is even an open market for buying and selling shares on the site too. Hands down, this is the most reputable money making site I've ever used, and there are two times I've cashed out for paypal and was not disappointed.

These are important, because PayPal turns into peds, and peds are what Entropia runs on... I wouldn't be a good Entropian if I didn't aid my readers in becoming more financially secure in their gaming world.

Entropia partners is still a great option too, they have paid me over 100 peds, and it didnt take long for them to get it to me either. And that's with minimal use of the site, for how long I been a member and all.

If you are having problems using the AH after the last update

I freaked out when I seen the AH wasn't working... Well, it quit selecting all items by default. So now you have to make a category selection in the left column before any items show in the AH. I know most of you have figured it out, but, I wanted to make sure those who couldn't figure it out still had an opportunity to use the AH.

A quick guide to Explosive Projectiles

I decided to check my traffic search terms that bring readers to my blog and see what it is they are looking for that I might not have provided. Since this was a impressively requested subject, I am now covering it.

They are of course crafted now instead of looted... I don't recommend clicking them unless you are clicking them for using, and not clicking them to chase grand profits that don't exist. The ruined EP crafters I know are out as much money clicking them as would pay wages for a small town's population to survive for a year. And no, I am not kidding.

Explosives are a great weapon to skill up, they are effective in PVP if you have high enough skills and a big enough launcher. The rocket launchers have amazing range and a good rate of fire, but, if you are hunting it will agro any mob that is in range of splash damage. A large rocket launcher is capable of wiping out a substantial cluster of mobs or avatars, say at the oil refinery. Yes, everyone calls it an oil rig, but I am sorry, it's an oil refinery, not an oil well... But I guess oil's well that ends well.

The chief benefit of having a rocket launcher is quite simply the most grand evasive maneuver one could ask for when probing the contaminated zones for ores and matters: If you blow yourself up before someone else kills you if they are closing in on you, they don't get your loot, and the only thing you've lost is your toxic shot! And no, it's not an exploit, it costs you money to do this, and MA makes the money, and the game is designed to work this way. If MA some day turns suicide damage off in the CZ and you find a way to kill yourself anyways, then yes THAT would turn it into an exploit.

Rocket launchers have a high damage potential, just spend some time using them and you should see in a short time how having one will benefit you, and really, I honestly don't know why I gave up skilling them.

Grenade launchers are a bit different. They are shorter range, and you just lob a grenade out there and it lands on the ground and explodes damaging anything clumped around it. Think of it as crowd control... If you are doing say, the low level zombie mission on rocktropia, a big grenade launcher and a dense cluster of the zombies, and you are in business... Guaranteed to shave days off your quest!

If you are going to click EP, I think EP III is about the best print. IV is too costly, too much risk too little reward. II is too slow. BUT: I have globalled on EP II. Sadly, I can global more on EP II than on III. Very sad in fact, for spending 10x as much ped to click an EP III as a II.

Crafting rocket launchers, far as I can tell they are all limited blueprints, or else the weapons are looted. I used to loot detpils on RT, but havnt in a long time so maybe that changed. Limited blueprints are awesome to click, the rewards are many multipliers higher than that of UL prints. Bigger partials, bigger globals, bigger hofs, and limited prints are dropping in value because gamblers are turning more and more to EP. Do not be afraid to click items other than EP if you are crafting. People are losing tens of thousands of dollars a week each doing EP IV, so don't be fooled (at least the ones I know personally). But by all means, use explosive weaponry :) I may go back to using it myself.

UPDATE: I did forget to mention perhaps the biggest reason why seemingly worthless UL rocket or grenade launchers are a small fortune in markup...

There are small spawns of small mobs that if you auto-use your weapon, it will keep firing, and if you have a auto-loot pill, you can safely grenade these mob spawns automatically and loot everything you kill, to effectively hunt without being at the keyboard.

Just don't do it on Amethera or wherever it is PVP zone LOL. Make sure the PVP icon is green, or flashing yellow, but not red. You are not charged for firing a weapon that doesn't hit a valid target in a non-pvp zone. In a pvp zone, your weapon will cost you with every shot regardless if you are killing something or not.

What to do if your laptop's keyboard quits working while you are trying to do something!

I was playing Entropia and my keyboard decided to quit working completely totally at random too... Every reboot it would work a varying amount of time. So, I wasted an hour disassembling it and reseating my ribbon cables, etc. Same thing kept happening.

I thought I would be a good person and put the solution out where it can be found if it is needed:

The way to apparently fix this problem permanently, is to go into your device manager and uninstall all of your keyboard drivers, and reboot.

It has been quite some time and I am still typing away without a failure!

What I can conclusively say about long term results in EU.

Based on all the research I've done, all the numbers I've examined... All the runs by many people who share their results with me... Your chief goal, for long term results in Entropia... Mind you it could take years for it to balance out... I am still no where near balanced out after so many years... But what I am seeing in the numbers is this:

As long as your markups on loot cover your decay, and markup on your decay, you are in good shape for the long term.

Of course more is better... But if everything works the way it is said that it does, and I've seen enough to know it's more or less true for the average player... MA skims off your decay (Not all decay... Melee, mining amps, etc probably have a majority % going to the loot pool and just a small portion going into MA's coffers, otherwise a sword would not give you loot since it has no ammo if MA keeps all decay), your markup you skim off other players.

TT values in terms of spend and loot have in my directly observable instances, ran + or - a few percent of actual TT cost of the runs, even when figured on the long term.  The longer the run, in fact, the nearer to even in terms of TT it works out to.

Markup folks, Markup.. Do not give your loot away if you know it has value... If you are going to tt something with markup or sell it to a trader who wants to pay you next to nothing, don't. It is far better to deposit again and stockpile your good loot until you can do something with it. You will probably end up depositing again anyways, might as well do it sooner than later, that way in the long run you are actually having to deposit less.

The only way to approach things is, play to stay even. Wins and losses will happen... But if you can aim for being even, good things are even better when they happen while you are even. It is a game of survival. Will your bankroll last until you hit something good?
